Intimate Backyard Tea

Pyxie Productions of Roseville: Photography
We threw a "Fall Backyard Tea Birthday Party" (that's a mouth full!) for our friend and client, Heather, this last weekend.  We spent many weeks planning this event and thinking about all of the little details. We met with Heather multiple time and had unlimited contact with her to keep the lines of creativity going to get exactly what Heather wanted with still a few surprises in store for her that day.

Nicole keeps telling me that God is on our side with this business because little things happen all the time to make each event special.  Before this specific event we worried about getting good photos of all the details and hard work we had put into the party, but luck was on our side that day.  We randomly got a call from Jaymie from Pyxie Productions Photography in Roseville.  She had seen our business card in Shady Coffee.  On the whim she decided to call us and see if she could work with us and she was willing to came out and take some pics of our party.  So, enjoy a few good pics below.

About this party:

Heather wanted a party in her backyard where she could invite her closest friends for a tea. She wanted a fall theme and she wanted some fun details like an option for her guests to dress up.  Heather was a great client because she basically let us take creative license with the decorations.  She just wanted a great menu, pumpkins incorporated, and some fun games.  We were on a limited budget so we came up with some fun inexpensive ideas.  We incorporated a tea time trivia game and a game about the Birthday girl.  We spent time on a lot of little details like gold framed pictures, gold painted pumpkins, gold framed mirrors, and lace and burlap in other areas. Lace & burlap lined the tables, and pumpkins hid in many corners.  We also handmade tags for all the tea pots and food.  We found some great gold fabric leaves that we stamped with the word 'Joy' and put under each tea cup.  Each setting of tea had a classic original china setting that has been around for years in Nicole's family line.  As always, we love to rent from our dear friend Marci from Sacramento Vintage Crockery Rentals for all her cute unique things that add flare and fun to our tables.  We were able to get some crystal jam jars and extra tea pots from her for this event.

The favors for the guests were mini pumpkins signed with fun saying from the birthday girl.  We decided to make a mini pumpkin patch to display the cute pumpkins.  Each guest was asked to go pick their favorite and take it home with them.

We had a delicious fall menu that included butternut squash soup, Fat Cat scones, classic tea sandwiches, pumpkin cookies, and some amazing teas.  We found the most yummy Chocolate Mint Black Tea that was so delish it didn't even need sugar.

Heather did not want a traditional birthday cake so we ended up having an amazing cake from Ettore's Bakery of Sacramento.  It was a Tiramasu Birthday Cake with some Cherry Kissed Flare!  We made a special birthday flag that was displayed on a cute twig.  We also paired the cake with a tea cup full of flowers and fall leaves.

We put so much time and effort in all the details of this special party. We wanted the perfect touches that showed Heather's guests just how much they meant to her.  Many of the guests commented on what a great party it was and Heather was so pleased at how everything turned out!  Some even said it was the best party they had ever been too!  We could not ask for a better compliment.  We want to thank everyone who came and our great vendors for helping us out.

Tea Time Photo Shoot

Nicole and I had a  chance to do a great photo shoot inspired by a garden tea theme. We have been planning a Tea Time photo shoot for some time now and finally got to put all our items and ideas together with some great vendors. And we had a lot of fun to!

We really wanted to thank all our wonderful amazing vendors that we have been so blessed to work with and honor them with this blog.

Thank you and here's to Tea!!!
A Cherry Kissed Events Original
First, we decided to use purples, golds, pinks, and greens as the main colors for the day.

Next, we decided what items we really wanted to include in our shoot. Such as using our DIY frames that we had worked on, bunting, a cute cake, and fun details like a pop of color on each plate by using a  pear.
Napkin: Sacramento Vintage Crockery
Last, we paired up with some great vendors so that the day would go smooth and look great.

Please enjoy our photos below and check our our awesome vendors. We also want to thank our friend, Gina, for letting us use her great backyard.

We used our favorite florist, Bonnie, from Florals by Flory in Roseville, Ca.
She did a great job using bright wildflowers and incorporating them with the DIY tea tins and the DIY laced wine bottles that we made.

We used our sweet friend, Tamsin, from the Sweet Bambino in Roseville. Tamsin makes great baby clothes and other fun items and she made us the cutest bunting. The bunting was made with burlap and felt and she added some cute flowers as a fun detail.

Fiesta Night on October 21st - the Help the Children's Tumor Foundation

We need your help!
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a non-profit that works tirelessly to find a cure for Neurofibromatosis (NF). Our dear friend, Andrew Lowell, is a local father with a heartbreaking story about his daughter, 3 year old Eva, and her battle with a debilitating spinal tumor.  We want you to partner with him and his family to help better the lives of children battling with tumors all over the nation. Please read Andrew’s story below and let us know if you would like to participate in a Fiesta Night Oct 21st, 2011 for a NF Endurance race that he is participating in December 4, 2011 to raise funds for this cause.
Andrew’s Story: My daughter Ava was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF) at 6 months of age. After her first MRI it was discovered she has a tumor in her spine. NF causes tumors to grow along nerves, nerve sheaths, and non-nervous tissue such as bones and skin, anywhere in the body. These tumors can choke off organs and blood supplies. About one-half of the people with NF have learning disabilities. If the tumor my daughter has in her spine grows any larger, she will lose motor development and/or skills and may suffer from any number of complications. There is no treatment or cure for her. Ava has to have MRI’s every three months to monitor the growth of her tumor. She is only 3 years old.  We do this not only to find a cure and/or treatment for her but for all of the other children we have met through this organization with this disorder. Because of the Children’s Tumor Foundation Ava can look forward to the future. For Ava, I would run to the end of the world if it meant a cure.
We are looking for sponsors and donations to help raise money and awareness for this great cause.  All donations are tax deductable and all businesses that donate will have their logo placed on all methods of advertising and signage. We are hosting a Fiesta Night on October 21st , 2011 at 6:30 pm located at Connect Reality Office, 1693 Eureka Rd #100, Roseville, CA 95661.  A social hour, dinner, and auction will take place to raise funds for the race. Mark S. Allen from Good Morning Sacramento will be our auctioneer and we are hoping for a great turn out.
Tickets are $25 a piece.  If you would like to be a sponsor, donate items, run with Andrew at the race in December, or buy tickets to the Fiesta night please contact:

Fall High Tea and DIY Frame Projects

This was a fun weekend for us.  Both of our husbands were out of town so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and get busy with business plans, details, and crafts.  Not only did my house turn into craft central but we turned into kids again with a sleepover, chick flicks, & junk food.   We spent many hours on crafts for our upcoming Tea Party photo-shoot and High Tea Birthday party for our dear friend and client, Heather.  We also made some time to go to a charity fundraiser, where we meet some great people that we hopefully will be working with in the near future on some great fund-raising events for a special cause, The Children’s Tumor Foundation.  It’s always good when you can work with passion for a good cause.  At the charity street fair, we met many vendors, Steve Hillier with Dogs on Wheels, and Kenn Serrano with Aloha Balloon Company who makes amazing scenes out of balloons.  Below is a picture of us in front of some amazing balloon flowers.  He also is a magician and great entertainer.

The fall season is calling our name this year. We are excited for pumpkins, candy corn, and deep colored decorations.  We are excited to incorporate the fall in our High Tea birthday party we are planning.  We are wanting to bring in pops of the seasons colors (oranges, yellows, gold’s, and greens)!  We want to incorporate a mini pumpkin patch and fall leaves to bring fall into the tea.  Some of the crafts we worked on this weekend were old frames we found at garage sales that we painted and decorated (pictures to come soon).  We took apart an old mirror and painted the frame and we are turning the frame into a magnetic moonstone colored chalk board!! This will be a fun way for us to write out menus at events or fun inspiration sayings.  We also took the labels off of green wine bottles and put lace around the middle and attached twin. We will be able to hang the bottles and fill them with flowers.  This creates a beautiful vintage look.  We also found some fabric fall leaves for super cheap and stamped an elegant stamp on each one that says “joy”.  This will be something we can use at each place setting.  We have many other projects and crafts that we are working on and you will just have to wait for the pictures. They should be up in October.

We have been busy. Keep checking in for more details and fun things we are working on.  Next week we will put up a video on how to make candy corn rice crispies!  Yum!
